An announcement from the first lady's office said that "this year's theme, 'American Treasures' honors the unique heritage of America", and the entire decorative endeavor was designed by the President.
There is also an overarching theme of red, easily noticed throughout the displays in the White House.
According to the announcemnt, the choice of the red theme came from the "pals", or the red stripes found in the Presidential seal symbolic of valor and bravery.
"Our theme honors the heart and spirit of the American people",Trump said.
This year's color idea opposes the last year choice of white, dusted with a touch of faux sparkly white "snow".
Critics emerged after the announcement, many comparing the red choice to blood.
