Indiana mom arrested for allegedly leaving her toddler in a hot car during a Department of Child Services interview.

Jennifer K. Ost, 27, arrived with her newborn baby on an appointment with a community control center at Anderson Pediatrics, about 45 km northeast of Indianapolis. According to the court documents, she had given birth to her son four days earlier and had her taken out of hospital against the advice of a doctor.

Police said the appointment was scheduled for 14:30. But Ost arrived at 2:40 pm After a doctor examined her baby, she became "belligerent" and began to curse the DCS employee during the interview, according to court documents.

The hospital received a phone call around 16:30. regarding a small child in the parking lot. A police officer found a young boy in the car, watching a movie on a cell phone.

Police said all the windows in the car were closed and the child was sweating profusely. The officer took the boy inside.

Ost reportedly told authorities that her toddler did not want to come with her so she left the car. Ost was arrested and charged with the negligence of a dependent. His two children were cared for by the DCS.
