New Jersey police officer arrested in connection with the death of his 3-month-old daughter

Daniel Bannister, 31, an officer of the police department Ewing Township, faces murder charges for what prosecutors described as "bad continuous treatment" and death Bannister Hailey in December 2018.

The girl's mother, 29-year-old Catherine Bannister, was also arrested Wednesday and is accused of endangering a child's well-being.

An autopsy performed after Hailey's death showed that she had died from blunt force trauma, including a skull fracture and subdural hemorrhage.

Paramedics were sent to the Bannister House on December 5th following a report that reported a child who was not responding. The girl was found in cardiac arrest and was not breathing.

She died in a hospital on December 11th.

Bannister, an Ewing police officer since 2017, has been suspended with treatment since the death of his daughter.
