A man was fatally struck by lightning while his wife sustained injuries as they hiked in Colorado on Sunday, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
The pair were hiking on the Bear Creek Trail on Flagstaff Mountain when they were hit by lightning at around 1 p.m. Witnesses called 911 following the incident.
The man was hit in his upper body and was briefly revived by responding emergency staff, but he ultimately died at the hospital. His wife was injured as a result of "ancillary electrical current from the strike that hit her husband" and was rushed to hospital where she remains in stable condition.
The 37-year-old wife and 36-year-old husband were not identified pending family notification.
