A Florida man accused of shooting dead his stepfather during an altercation before running away has been arrested Sunday, The DeLand Police Department confirmed.
In a news conference, DeLand police Lt. Juan Millan told reporters that the shooting unfolded at a central Florida apartment complex where Alonzo Harkness, 25-year-old, killed his 60-year-old stepfather before fleeing the area. He was apprehended in Daytona Beach only a few hours later.
The victim's identity was not publicly released. Meanwhile, the investigation is ongoing to determine the motive of the murder.
It is not clear if Harkness who is facing second-degree murder charge has a lawyer who can speak on his behalf.
