It has been a tragic weekend for US law enforcement: three police officers and a sheriff's deputy were killed between Saturday and Sunday while responding to emergency calls.

-Officer David Romrell: was a 31-year-old Marine Corps veteran of South Salt Lake City Police. He was run over by two burglary suspects and killed.

-Officer Leanne Simpson: was a 23-year-old officer who joined the Philadelphia Police Department 15 months before he crashed while responding to a call to check on deputies in a traffic stop.

-Officer Hunter Edwards: was a four-year veteran of the Winchester Police and a member of the SWAT team. He died after his car skidded off the side of a highway and struck a tree.

-Sheriff's deputy Antonio Hinostroza: 45, was killed in a crash during a chase of a drunk driver.
