A 62-year-old Pennsylvania husband has fatally shot his estranged wife before he set fire at their home and took his own life.
According to police, the incident occurred at a home in Berks County early Tuesday morning. Upon firefighters' arrival, they found Stefan Strunk sitting near his 62-year-old wife's corpse. But when firefighters' tried to revive Joy Strunk, Stefan Strunk exited the home and opened fire at himself.
Officials confirmed that the event is currently being investigated as a murder-suicide.
It is believed that the couple's relationship was deteriorating. The home where they used to live since 1984 was completely destroyed.
"It sounds like there was a history of domestic issues," Detective Sargent Deron Manndel said in a statement.
