the Ohio man who killed a woman during a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville last year would finally face trial.

21-year-old James Alex Fields Jr., of Maumee, Ohio, is accused of first-degree charges for killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer when he drove his car into a crowd of nationalists rallied in the nation's capital, the woman was pronounced dead while others were injured.

the so-called "Unite the Right" rally on Aug. 12, 2017, was organized to protest the planned removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. The event drew hundreds of white nationalists to Charlottesville.

Fields who was described by a former teacher as an admirer of Adolf Hitler would make his first trial appearance on Monday, in Charlottesville Circuit Court.
