A Florida man has been convicted of first-degree murder and is now facing the death penalty for killing a nanny during a home invasion.

55-year-old Scott Edward Nelson was ruled guilty of murdering 56-year-old Jennifer Lynn Fulford in September 2017 when he broke into a Winter Park home. He reportedly tied her up and put her in the trunk of her own car before stealing $300 from her account. Nelson then stabbed the victim several times in an empty lot outside Orlando, according to investigators.

The nanny's remains were found many days later. During his testimony, Nelson told the court that he blames his probation officer for being fired from his job and forced to steal in order to survive.
