Sacramento news, California news.

A California mother has been convicted of murdering her daughter after leaving her in a hot car purposely during the extremely blazing days of summer, according to new court reports.

Angela Phakhin was found guilty of first-degree murder and torture in connection with the 2017 death of her 3-year-old, Maiya, who was repeatedly left in the unbearably hot car during the summer days. She died one day after spending nine hours and a half in the cruel conditions under a pile of blankets.

The mother and her fiance, Untwan Smith, were attempting to remove demons from the girl, they told authorities.

The sentencing hearing for the mother has not been set. Smith's trial is pending.
