Unarmed man shot by police left in wheelchair

5years ago

Jerry Smith Jr has been in a wheelchair since August last year, when he was shot without a reason by Wisconsin Police officers.

The officers were responding to reports of a man with a gun, when they confronted Mr Smith who matched the description of the gunman.

They persued him onto a roof where he hide after being scared by the situation. Two officers told him to put his hands up. He did but after a moment he lowered his hands. He was then shot three times. One bullet nearly entered his brain. "I really don't know why they shot me" Smith said in an interview, "Ok I ran but the officer scared the hell out of me."

The District Attorney has claimed the officers believed that he was reaching for a weapon when they fired.
