Families who lost loved ones in Virginia Beach shooting calling for independent investigation.

According to the Virginian-Pilot Tuesday, families of three victims also wanted the city to publish more information about the Virginia Beach mass shooting .

Civil engineer DeWayne Craddock opened fire in a municipal building on May 31 and killed 12 people. He died in a shootout with the police.

Debbie Borato, the sister of the victim Missy Langer, said her family could not fully mourn without knowing more about what had happened.

They join the husband of the victim Kate Nixon. Jason Nixon said his wife had concerns about Craddock before leading the attack.

City officials said the appropriate time to discuss an independent inquiry would be once the criminal investigation is complete.
