A Delaware woman has been arrested amid allegations that she stole her terminally ill mother's identity in order to profit from life insurance, according to reports.

51-year-old Arlene Belfield was charged with several counts including crimes against a vulnerable adult and insurance fraud. The Delaware Department of Insurance Fraud Prevention Bureau alleges that Belfield stole her dying mother's identity in 2017 and tried to collect the policy that reached an amount of $50,000 a few days following her mother's death which led authorities to suspect her of fraud.
