Federal jury convicted man accused of shooting U.S. ATF agent.

Federal jury convicted a man accused of firing at a US agent of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives services he allegedly confused with a member of a Chicago street gang .

Ernesto Godinez was convicted on Monday of the assassination of Kevin Crump in May 2018 when he and other agents were installing tracking devices on cars owned by suspected gang members.

Prosecutors say that a bullet fired by Godinez hit Crump in the head and entered his neck before going out between his eyes.

Defense lawyer Lawrence Hyman said Mr. Godinez "is not responsible for this horrible act".
