Mother accused of stabbing 5-year-old son ruled unfit to stand trial

A Missouri woman accused of stabbing her 5-year-old son has been found not mentally fit to be tried.

35-year-old Syeda Sirajuddin has been charged with felony assault, child endangerment and armed criminal action in connection with Jan. 9 attacks when she gave her children sleeping pills and stabbed her son before trying to strangle another 2-year-old son. A 9-year-old daughter was not harmed during the incident.

According to news reports, the woman will be confined to a Missouri mental health facility in order to be reevaluated every six months and to determine if she could stand trial.

The boy has been hospitalized while two other siblings have not been harmed during the incident.
