Eighth U.S. soldier to die in Afghanistan this year

Sgt. 1st Class Debra Richardson announced Saturday in a press release that a U.S. soldier has been killed in Afghanistan, rising the total number of U.S. military personnel to die there in combat to eight this year.

The identity of the soldier was not revealed .

According to Pentagon, there are about 14,000 U.S. service members currently serving in Afghanistan. They guide and aide Afghan forces to battle Taliban.

There were also reports of a helicopter crash in Kandahar Province that killed two Afghan soldiers and injured two others.

Recently "insider attacks" target the international forces when some Afghan soldiers turn their weapons on security force members serving along side them.
