San Diego news, California news.

According to a search warrant, the only suspect in a southern California synagogue shootout told an investigator that he had adopted his hatred of Judaism 18 months before the fatal attack.

John T. Earnest also said he was inspired by Adolf Hitler and the armed suspect in the New Zealand mosque during a shootout last March.

The search warrant offers some new details about the April 27 attack on the Chabad of Poway synagogue, which killed one woman and wounded three.

The police found a helmet with a camera in Earnest's car when he was arrested.
