An Iowa homeless man has pleaded guilty to a first-degree murder charged in connection with the death of an Iowa State University golf star in 2018.

Colin Richards, 22, was charged with the death of Celia Barquin Arozamena, 22, following testimony of his friends to whom he confessed to the crime. He had shown up to one of his friends' home covered in blood and asked to shower the same day Arozamena was found dead at the Coldwater Golf circuit. "Today, we honor the life and memory of Celia Barquin Arozaman by announcing that Justice has been served in her case," Att. Jessica Reynolds said. "There was no plea offers made in this case."

Richards sentencing hearing was scheduled for Aug. 23. He faces a mandatory life sentence without parole.
