Christopher Monnin, 35, was charged Thursday for infiltrating the backyard of houses with pools in Palm Bay and stealing only flotation devices, according to the affidavit for his arrest.

Monnin was on a bike when the cops stopped him on Thursday at 1:25 am as a suspect. They found him in possession of a garbage bag filled with deflated floats, the affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, Palm Bay has been the victim of swimming pool floats during more than a dozen burglaries reported in the past seven months.

The affidavit indicated that the police found about 75 pool floats in a vacant house where Monnin admitted to having hidden it.

He was arrested for burglary, criminal mischief and minor theft and was transferred to Brevard County Jail on a $ 15,000 bail.
