Officials investigating the death of a man in police custody.

According to Iowa's Criminal Investigation Division, a man in police custody died Saturday morning after the Jackson County Sheriff's Assistants and the Maquoketa Police Department were summoned to an address in Maquoketa.

The incident led to the arrest of Drew Edwards, of Marquoketa, on suspicion of human rights violations. Shortly after his arrest, Edwards began to show signs of a medical emergency and doctors were called to help.

After being transported to the Jackson County Medical Center, Edwards was pronounced dead.

Iowa's Criminal Investigation Division and the Jackson County District Attorney's Office are investigating the death of Edwards.
