Florida authorities announced the arrest of a teacher who brought a concealed handgun and knives to the school where she worked.
Betty Jo Soto, 49-year-old was also fired from Starkey Elementary School and charged with two misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon.
The school principal notified police about a "suspicious behavior". Responding officers searched a backpack in the suspect's fourth-grade classroom and discovered a 9mm semiautomatic pistol. Reports claimed that there were also two knives.
The teacher, who had a concealed weapon permit, wasn't allowed to bring the handgun to the school. She reportedly was told by school officials that her contract will not be renewed.
