One dead, two injured after an explosion decimated a home.

According to a report from the Courier-Journal. Just before 5 am, an explosion destroyed a house and sent debris flying into the Capitol Hills neighborhood, burning a car and damaging about 20 surrounding homes. One person died and two others were injured after the explosion.

The three wounded were taken to the University of Louisville Hospital, where one individual was declared dead and the other two are still being treated. The names have not been published yet, according to Sgt. Jason Ames, a spokesperson for the Jeffersonville Fire Department.

Neighbor William Short said he was awakened by the sound of the explosion and saw what looked like fireworks coming from the house.

According to local sources, at least five of the houses affected by the explosion are now unbearable.
