Woman impersonates sheriff's deputy to help boyfriend escape prison

Washington County news, Arkansas news.

An Arkansas woman had planned a man's jail escape when she posed as a deputy and ordered his release, according to authorities.

Maxine Feldstein, 31, was sentenced to 15 years behind bars after she pleaded guilty to forgery, escape and criminal impersonating in the jail escape plot. The charges stemmed from a plan the suspect concocted with her boyfriend Nicholas Lowe, 24, who was jailed because of a police hold out.

"It was very well-planned and very well-executed," Chief deputy attorney Mieka Hatcher told news outlets. "Planning and executing an escape is a serious crime."

Authorities said that while Lowe was in jail, Feldstein contacted officials claiming that she was Deputy Kershaw with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office and presented a fake document to release the hold on Lowe.
