According to the Wisconsin authorities, a man allegedly exchanged fire with the police this week, resulting in his death and that of a firefighter.
Ruben Houston, of Wausau, had a medical call on a bus near downtown Appleton on Wednesday afternoon. Houston had been treated by emergency personnel, but once he was out of the bus, the incident escalated and shots were fired.
Appleton firefighter Mitchell Lundgaard was shot and killed.
Houston was charged with possession of drugs last month with intent to sell in Fond du Lac County. He was free on bail. He was charged with disorderly conduct and battery in Marathon County. Both charges were dismissed in January.
