Stunning satellite image shows the devastation left by the Woolsey Fire

5years ago

NASA released a stunning image that capture the extent of the devastation caused by the Malibu-area blaze.

The Southern California Woolsey Fire has created a scar on the state's landscape visible from space.

In the image the burned vegetation appears brown and the unburned vegetation is green, NASA explained.

The Woolsey Fire is almost entirely contained as rain is forcasted for Wednesday which could help the efforts to extinguish the rest of fire, but also complicate the research for remains and for about 870 still unaccounted for.

The Woolsey Fire has burned around 1,500 buildings and damaged hundreds more in a 151- square mile range since it started about two weeks ago.
