San Francisco police raided a freelance journalist's home and office in a criminal investigation.

Bryan Carmody told the Los Angeles Times that police handcuffed him on Friday while confiscating his mobile phone, computer and cameras. The newspaper reported Saturday that a judge had signed a search warrant.

Authorities said the raid took place during an ongoing investigation into the person who leaked a confidential police report on the death of San Francisco public defender Jeff Adachi on February 22.

Carmody said the investigators had previously asked him to identify the source who provided the report. Carmody says he politely refused.
