North Chicago police announced the arrest of three suspects following a perilous chase in connection with several shootings that occurred Sunday night.

Raymond Steward, 26, James Towns, 27 and Willie Bell, 28, were charged with first-degree attempted murder of a peace police officer after they opened fire at a police officer who ordered them to stop.

The incident came after a series of shooting in the intersection of Aargonne Drive and Jackson Street, on the 1500 block of Broadway Avenue, and Dugdale Road where police found bullet casings.

"The officers involved in these incidents displayed the utmost degree of restraint, teamwork courage and professionalism," said Police Chief Larazo Perez. "Despite the imminent danger of being fired upon, the pursuing officer maintained his composure."
