Man arrested after pretending being a fire marshal to break into motel room

Court documents revealed that a Salem County husband was arrested after he allegedly stabbed another man in a motel room last Friday.

After a failed attempt to broke into the room where his wife was staying with a strange man, Jonas L. Almodovar, 35-year-old posed as a fire marshal who was responding to a fire report in the room as he spoke to the Rodeway Inn staff, investigators told news outlets.

Once the locked door of the room was opened, the suspect eventually pulled the man, whose identity was not released, into the corridor and stabbed him four times with a large knife.

The victim had luckily the chance to escape from Almodovar with some help of the motel's employee before running away.

Almodovar is being held into custody facing aggravated assault and weapon offense charges.
