Man arrested after flashing laser at flying helicopter

5years ago

Pitner news, Houston news.

A Houston suspect was arrested and is facing up to five years in jail after he pointed a laser at a flying helicopter last year causing its pilot serious troubles.

Bryan Aldana, 20, had pleaded guilty to flashing the green laser at the Airborne AS350 B2 helicopter on the night of June 23, 2018 leading its pilot to turn his head and "maneuver" the plane with his eyes closed as a result of the powerful glare that lighted up the hole cockpit.

Investigators could later track down the source of the light and arrest Aldana after checking a surveillance video from a nearby store that showed him, sitting on a chair and "aiming a green laser up in the sky."

Aldana is free on bond while awaiting his sentencing hearing in July.
