Wareham police were noticed late Saturday about to people struck and killed by the "Train to Christmas Town".

The conductor on the train attempted to stop it and activate the emergency braking system before the collision. According to officials, the victims were a 33-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man from Wareham.

There were 355 passengers on the train at the time, mostly first-responders and their families who were offered the train trip as a way to thank them for their sacrifices.

Many of the first responders on board wanted to help but were advised to stay with their children who were told that the train had just run out of "magic gas" so it stopped. The kids were then given gifts.
