New York state police said that a woman was fatally shot and killed as her husband cleaned his legally obtained handgun, Thursday night in her home in Corinth.

Police said that the 35-year-old husband, Eric Rosenbrock, was cleaning the gun, reportedly “performing maintenance”, when it accidentally opened fire at the 34-year-old wife Ashley Rosenbrock. She was pronounced dead at Saratoga Hospital. Authorities are investigating the apparent accident and no charges have been filed.

The victim was the mother of three children, and the husband is a science teacher in the Lake George school district. They had another daughter, a 18-month-old who died from an infection five years ago
