The attorney for the female member of the trio charged with concocting a story to launch a GoFundMe campaign for a homeless man said his client was duped by the two other suspects.
The story began when, Kate McClure, declared in social media that a homeless veteran, Johnny Bobbitt, helped her when she ran out of gas spending his last $20. She along with D'amico raised a fund campaign to help him. The campaign generated more than $400,000 in donations.
Now McClure attorney claims that she was set up by the two others, since her only goal was to help that man by creating the hole story. Citing the attorney: "At that point, she became very emotional," he said. "She was in tears, she was crying, visibly shaking because she realized what she had been set up."
