A car theft suspect had learned his unusual sentence after he was convicted of the crime.

Christopher Montilliano Jr., 21, has pleaded no contest to charges of unauthorized control of propelled vehicle and driving without a license after he stole a 1990 Honda Accord. But the big surprise in this case was the sentence: Montilliano won't be allowed to have his favorite beverage Pepsi for the next four years, which is a real torture for the suspect who will now face "a Pepsi deprivation" as Judge Rhonda Loo called it.

In addition to being forbidden from the soft drink, Montilliano was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and a $100 fine.

"This is the first time I've heard of a Coca-Cola addiction," the judge told the suspect. "I'm sure the soda didn't make you steal the vehicle."
