DeKalb County news, Georgia news.

Christopher Madison of Alabama joined in looking for a girl after he disappeared from his home earlier this month. The authorities discovered after that it was just a ploy by Madison to hide that he had murdered the girl.

Madison was charged with aggravated murder on March 4, following the death of 11-year-old Amberly Barnett, whose body was found in the woods on March 2, one day after her last visit to her aunt's home in Mt. Vernon. Barnett had a blue rope wrapped around his neck.

A judge ruled Monday that prosecutors had a probable cause in the murder case and sent him to a grand jury.

Chief investigator David Davis said Madison, when looking for Barnett, said he saw a vehicle parked in the driveway of the house and told the police that he had searched the woods behind. his home but had not spotted Barnett.

The investigators said they later found several clues that Madison had murdered the girl, including the same blue rope found around Barnett's neck.

Madison's girlfriend also told investigators that the blue rope was in the house one day before Barnett's death.
