Detroit Metropolitan Airport announced that a woman tried to open the plane exit abroad a flight from Indianapolis to Detroit.

The plane's passengers intervened and were able to stop the woman's actions. She was restrained until the plane landed around 6:45 p.m. Monday.

The Airport spokeswoman Erica Donerson said that the woman didn't appear to have criminal intent, but instead had medical issues.

The flight was organized by Republic Airline and the event occurred shortly after the Delta Flight 5972 takeoff.

The Republic Airline apologized to its passengers about the unusual incident. The FBI has also intervened in the investigation as the woman's identity and motive remain unclear.
