A leaky gas tanker burst into flames south of Los Angeles, injuring two people

A leaky tanker caught fire on Sunday in Florence. The photos showed a nearby house blackened by the flames and smoking a few hours later. The fire department tweeted updates throughout Sunday morning. Two people were injured as a result of the explosion. They were transported to the hospital

Police announced that the explosion projected a manhole cover into the air and flames were fired from the storm drain.

when Firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a 9000-gallon tanker leak. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said the gas was connected to an ignition source and had exploded into flames.

At least one family was forced to leave. Some 72 firefighters attempted to extinguish the fire, which was finally extinguished after almost two hours.

LAFD hazardous materials specialists were on hand to determine the impact of the fire on the environment and to ensure that the crews that were still working in the vicinity of the incident were safe.

According to spokeswoman Melissa Bailey, the Southern California Gas Co. teams were assessing whether their equipment had been damaged during the explosion.
