Blue Line Train fatally strikes elderly woman inside car

An elderly woman was stroke by Blue Line train late Tuesday night after she lost control of her SUV on Tuesday.

According to state police, the train was carrying seven passengers on board at the moment of the accident. Three of them including the train conductor who remains anonymous were rushed to the hospital sustaining non life threatening injuries.

The wounded passengers were identified as 27-year-old Christine E. Eismann and 52-year-old Adjei Faustino.

Witnesses said that the tragedy happened around 9:09 p.m. after 70-year-old woman Sara Giancola drove her car in the far left lane of westbound I-190. Suddenly, she was seen rolling over down an embankment at Mannheim before ending on CTA tracks where the train took her life. She died at the scene.
