Police officials announced that a trooper had shot dead a man who attacked him by knife Monday.
The trooper was stabbed by an unknown man while he was responding to a destruction of property report around 8 a.m. in Washington Road and Stoner Avenue in Westminster.
Maryland State Police spokesman Greg Shipley said that when the trooper tried to talk with the man who was later identified as Michael, 34, he aggressively attacked him causing him several stab wounds.
The cop was then forced to use his firearm and shot the attacker.
Michael was rushed to Carroll hospital. He later died from gunshot wounds he sustained.
The number of the gunshots was not determined as investigation is still ongoing in the case.
