Dallas news, Texas news.

A 14-month-old daughter was nearly dead at her family house following an overdose of opioid fentanyl that her father was putting inside his jacket pocket.

32-year-old Justin Allen Ennis, who was arrested Friday, is being held behind bars facing two counts of endangering the welfare of children. His bail is set to $50,000.

Authorities filed an arrest warrant for him last year.

On December 26, officials responded to an emergency call from Ennis's home.

As they arrived, they found the toddler sustaining a cardiac arrest and hardly breathing.

According to court documents: "Justin Ennis advised police that he had capsules containing fentanyl inside a cigarette pack."

After the infant's collapse, Ennis was unable to find the capsules.
