The Saudi prosecutors said Thursday that they will seek the death penalty for five of 11 mean suspects directly accused of committing the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi on October 2.

The prosecution also shared new details of what happened in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, saying that Khashoggi was murdered after "a fight and a quarrel" with the suspects who tied him up, injected him with an overdose of sedative that killed him. After that, they chopped up the body and gave it to a local collaborator.

According to the same source, it was the Saudi deputy intelligence chief who formed a team of 15 people in order to force the journalist to go back to Saudi Arabia.
