A New York City elementary school student was arrested Thursday after he brought a gun to the school and threatened another student, police said.
A mother alerted officials at Public School 158 in East New York after her child was threatened with a gun by a classmate on Wednesday.

Police were called to the school where they interviewed the two boys and searched the backpack of the 8-year-old culprit.
The child was arrested after officers found an unloaded .380 caliber handgun in his backpack.
The incident is under investigation. The boys’ identities were not disclosed due to their ages.
