An illegal Mexican migrant was arrested this week for a fatal DUI crash that claimed a Washington State trooper’s life on Saturday.
27-year-old Trooper Christopher Gadd was killed in the collision that took place at around 3 a.m. on Interstate 5 in the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said 33-year-old Raul Benitez Santana was speeding as he turned into the shoulder when he crashed into Gadd’s patrol cruiser.

Santana had bloodshot eyes at the time of the crash; he admitted to smoking weed and drinking two beers before the tragic accident.
The suspect also had a lengthy rap sheet in Washington after entering the country unlawfully.
Gadd was described as a “promising young man” to his wife and their toddler daughter.
