on Tuesday lottery officials in South Carolina said that the man who won the $1.5 billion Mega Millions jackpot hasn't shown up yet to claim his prize even after the passing of 3 weeks after the drawing.

the winning ticket was sold in the town of Simpsonville, and the winner has a period of 180 days to come and claim his award.

according to the Mega Millions website, if the ticket was not claimed yet; the prize would be distributed between all participants of the Mega Millions game noting that each state has a way to spend the money of the unclaimed lottery.

the manager of the store that sold the winning lotto ticket said that “lotto tourists” visit the store daily and that he has no idea on the identity of the winner.

the lucky man who won the ticket would turn into a billionaire by taking the prize in the form of annual installments over three decades. The winner can also take an $877.8 million cash payment, an option which most winners choose to receive.
