Cop shoots intruder attempting to break into Los Osos home

San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office reported that a police officer had shot and injured an intruder who tried to break into his Los Osos home on Friday.

The officer who was at his 1300 block of 6th Street home shot the man as he tried to enter the residence at around 2:45 a.m. on Friday. The man was rushed to hospital and his current state is not revealed.

The home owner worked for the California Men's Colony as a correctional officer for 11 years and has been a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's employee for 25 years.

Neighbors claimed hearing the shooting, seeing police patrols and fire trucks and described the incident as "scary" in the quiet, safe area of North Coast neighborhood.
