Authorities announced the indictment of a San Angelo man on Friday after allegedly impersonating a police officer.

According to an arrest affidavit, the tragedy occurred on Aug. 1, 2018 when an AA high school student accompanied with three others were driving their way to school: "An unknown male driving a Ford F-150 attempted to stop her vehicle," the affidavit added.

The individual sped to past her before slowing down. He then opened the driver's side window.

"He flashed a circular badge with a 'V' engraved on it that was being held with a brown leather carrier", witnesses said.

The suspect was in custody since Oct. 3, 2018 with many charges pending against him including suspicion of impersonating a public servant.
