Members of the Wise County Sheriff's Office were sent to a rural property near Newark, Texas, after receiving a call on Tuesday morning at approximately 7:20 am local time. MEPs met two adults, 24-year-olds Andrew Fabila and Paige Harkings.

MPs have heard children in the barn. They went inside to find a 5-year-old child, a 4-year-old child, a 3-year-old child and a one-year-old child. According to the sheriff's office, the two youngest children were naked and lying on a blanket in the barn, while the two eldest were locked in a kennel.

The deputies donated food and water to the children, who were examined on the spot by doctors and then transported to the Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth for further examination.

Harkings, biological mother of four children, was arrested on four counts of endangering children and one count of aggravated assault. Fabila, the biological father of only one of the children, was taken to the Wise Regional Health System in Decatur where he was treated and released. He was later incarcerated in Wise County Jail.

Mother and father were brought to court on Wednesday. A judge fixed Fabila's bail at $ 60,000 and Harkings's bail at $ 75,000.
