Iowa officer punches truck window to arrest suspected drug dealer

A Polk County sheriff's deputy had no other choice to arrest a man who had outstanding warrants but to punch his truck window causing himself moderate bleeding and wounds.

Christopher Joseph Long, 29, was approached by Deputy Eric Lopez after breaking a brake light in the 5300 block of Merle Hay Road. Long refused to roll down his driver-side window but gave his ID to deputies, who realized he had warrants and has to be taken into custody.

Long refused to surrender forcing Lopez to break the window's glass, open the door to arrest Long.

Officers found inside the truck a package of more than 350 grams of marijuana and a mason jar with about 4 grams of the drug. He was accused of felony domestic abuse in 2017.

Long is being held on $11,000 bond. His next hearing is on March 19.
