Texas police discovered on Tuesday four malnourished kids in a locked dog cage in a barn in north Texas.
"This is the worst case of child abuse I has ever seen," a Texas sheriff said describing the horrific scene.
According to Wise County sheriff Lane Akin, the children were discovered when officers responding to an emergency call reported a domestic disturbance at 7:20 a.m., they noticed that the barn was "crudely fashioned" into living quarters and that all the kids were extremely thirsty and hungry.
The toddlers were found on a property located near Rhome, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) north o Fort Worth, Akin said.
Three boys and a girl were inside the cage whose ages range between 1 and 5-year-old.
