D.C. news, Washington news.

Authorities arrested a man in connection with the death of a 35-year-old runner in 2018.

According to spokesman Bill Miller, Anthony Crawford who had mental issues was not competent to assist the court proceedings especially after the mental health screening results.

After his arrest, Crawford has not entered a plea as he faced second-degree murder charge in the fatal stabbing of Wendy Martinez, 35-year-old, outside her apartment causing her several wounds in the head, neck and in the back, U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Reports said that the suspect's lawyers filed a request during which they claimed that their client must be moved to a psychiatric hospital because of his mental health illness.
