Virginia State to pay $20k to a mistakenly arrested woman

Brittany Dawn Jenkins has settled a lawsuit with Virginia Division of Risk Management after being mistakenly arrested last year on charges that listed a false name.

Jenkins sued authorities last February alleging that the deputy who arrested her and others had “reckless disregard for the truth.”

A judge signed an order last month to dismiss the lawsuit against authorities in Spotsylvania and Caroline counties.

Authorities had arrested Jenkins for a rejected inspection sticker, when they discovered two other outstanding warrants. These two last warrants were actually Brittany Nicole Jenkins, and listed her personal informations.
